Had a great morning on Wed, headed out from Donnybrook flicking along the weedy banks towards Toorbul nice falling tide.
Managed a flattie @ 52cm and was stoked, quickly followed by another 50cm model.
One of those big turtles scared the bejesus out of me repeatedly by popping up and taking a big gasp right behind me. Think he got a laugh out of it. Plenty of baitfish jumping and a dugong too.
Heard lots of surface "slurping" going on over the flats on the falling tide. Having read from you guys about surface luring bream, thought I'd give it a shot. Flicked a small popper out, some quick winds, lots of pauses and...voila! My first ever bream on popper, a nice 26cm fella, then another @ 23cm. Woohoo! :D Both released on the promise we meet again.
Another flattie to round out the morning. A 54cm fatboy, almost a PB. Damage done on 5cm Atomic Fat Grubs, variety of colours.
A big thanks to all who post here for giving me the info to go out and try new things. ;D Its easy to have a crack then give up when it don't work, but if you stick with it and land a few, it gives you the confidence to keep going and not look back.
Cheers,
K.
