hi all its been a while since ive had anything decent to show off but this will do
90cm approx 5+kgs of lizard ;D
beats my previuos best by 8cm caught at the same spot about a mth ago no camera then :-[
had an early day at work so I meet up with a mate (bobby26 )around midday today for a flick trying to stir up an early jack or two at a new spot weve found in the nerang rv
I was throwing around a 5"jerk bait in nuclear chook with a 1/8th 3/0 tt head tied to 4lbs vanish leader onto 14lbs braid she took a while to get in as she kept laying on the bottom and i had to lift her off ,not easy with the 4lbs. and the whole shore was lined with oysters had to get the shoes wet and wrap my shirt around my hand and get my hand in her massive gob 2nd grab got hold of her (time to buy a net ):P
got a cpl pics and quickly back in the drink was a very healthy fish very fat assume it was eggs leading up to spring would have been pushing 6kgs only 1 pic more soon on my mates phone
bring on the meter monster;)
Cheers Shin

that fish was taken in the Southport broadwater. Top fish, but I would have liked to see it photographed at the waters edge. It looks like it has been out the water for 2-3 minutes there, by the time you walk 20 back from the edge and get your camera ready. I just hope it survived.

your not far off i thought i was stuck on the bottom and was trying to free the lure off when the bottom moved:o
jeremy
I hate to be the one to tell ya but ya dnt know sh:-[ t the fish was caught in the NERANG river at least 6km as the crow flies from the broadwater (aprox dnt want to give the spot away to easily) was caught on a near 90 degree bend in the river so the water behind the camera is about 2mts away which is where the fish was landed and the brag mat was where he's standing in the shade.
mate i understand the importance of fish like that and she was handled with care please dont assume im an idiot or a liar
Cheers Shin

Thats a great fish mate and well done on the light string.
A little bit of constructive critisism:
Like Jeremy said a little more care when taking happy snaps. You look to have handled the fish very well with cradling the wieght but lying it on the dirt and grass takes thier protective slime off. Also try to wet down your brag mat before fish is placed on it. Try to keep fish in water while getting the camera ready.
Hopefully we see even more of these big flatties this year and people can handle them correctly so we see them for many more years. Too good a fish to catch just once. Well done on a great fish once again.

thanks for the comments whytey thats some good advice
yeah she slipped off the brag mat as it was on a slight lean and i didnt stop her in time when she kicked i would never lay a fish like that direct on the dirt plus the mat was wet which is why the grass stuck
I think next fish of this size i wont hold for pics as she was very heavy and i didnt feel you could even out the weight properly as you can with 80cm versions

Good come back Shin. To many Fish Police around these days. I caught a 75cm one the other day; it started off slow coming to wards me then veered off and hit the supercharger. I initially called it small then changed my mind rapidly. Keep the photos coming. Sharkymark.

Awesome catch mate...well done on your P.B.
It amazes me that you can read through a thread like this, of a bloke sharing his story and pictures of a truly great fish and you get some people who have to try to stomp all over his moment with their comments of how they would have rathered see the fish released....unbelievable.

4 lb leader.... You really like your sport.... top fish mate. With specimens like that being released you can see why the small flatty numbers are definitely comming back. I bet you go hungry pretty regularly when chasing Jacks with that leader :)
A sh*t load of fun though i bet.
Cheers Chris

Just ignore the armchair experts. They're only jealous because it wasn't on thier brag mat

Great fight on such a fine leader and well done on landing a lizzard that size without a net.I brought my mate out for a flick last week and caught a lizzard about that big and couldn,t even put it near the boat to net it was thrashing so hard on the surface so well done.
