At almost twice the price I wonder if two speeds are worth it?
I think I have almost answered my own question ie if you can afford it, go for it. the Treasurer says I can't afford the extra.
So, for a single speed, do I need to go to a 25 for 15kg line (for trolling) or is it OK to put 15kg on a 20?
TLD 30 2 speeds have a slightly better drag area and weigh a lot more . For trolling with mono I would stick with a TLD 25. If float lining mono or bottom bouncing with braid the TLD 20 feels better balanced to me.
G'Day Tony, next time your in Suffolks go to the last rod rack and check out the 2nd hand 20 2 speed, excelent condition, fully spooled on a penn international rod, been there a while they might be ready to negotiate.
Neil - I have a Charter Special for bottom bouncing and I am very happy with it. I am about to get a 6500 baitrunner for float lining, and have a Daiwa Emblem Pro on a spin rod. Just need to have a trolling outfit now. Sold my river boat yesterday, so money burning a hole in my pocket.
banshee - I will check out Suffolks - but at the moment there is a large tackle store in coffs selling spooled TLD combos for $299. I would prefer to shop locally so I will give it a serious look - thanks for the tip.
Did the club go out today? I fished the Ballina south wall this morning (no luck) There was a fairly brisk S-westerly blowing , the bar was nice and flat, but the horizon looked very joggly.
