I have around 12 rods and reels. I really only use 5-6 of them regularly though. My favourite is a 6'6" spinning rod I built myself when I was 15 (that makes it over 20 years old!). On my 4th reel for this rod now and use it for 3 kg line class. I have caught more good fish on this rod than any other including flatead of 3.5 and 3.75 kg, a 3 kg snapper, and heaps of mack tuna to 5 kg. Always take it with me whether I am going outside or inside. 3 kg is such a versatile line class.

Me too Ben. Going fishing/camping for the long weekend tomorrow.........only got everything ready by last Monday......I must be getting lazy :-)

Ooooooops! Forgot to cut the squid into little strips........that'll keep me busy for an hour at least, and then I've gotta roll a hundred or so smokes and hide e'm in the flare drum........God help me if the deckie ever has to use the flares.........Me? Under the thumb?......Never!!!

Kev, being an old boy yourself with military experience from what I've heard, I'm sure you'd know of an old substance no long used, called Cordite. Take a few strands/rods of cordite, and insert them into some of your cigarettes, then leave them around for him to "steal". Being a nice orange/brown colour, he'd never notice.

Should be a nice suprise for him when he lights up. Might make him think twice about filching yours.

I have 42 rods with a reel to match each one. It's hard to start the collection at first, but once you have about 20 rods and reels, the missus can't tell if another one is added to the collection.

Cheers Ben, but the deckie is the missus :-) She's a cardio nurse now but was in the navy (duty free smokes) and used to smoke about 40 a day up until 14 yrs ago when we both gave up.

Her pop died on Australia day evening.....we were camping on Crusoe when we got the call and she went back to the UK for a month to say her farewell and look after her mum. Well,................5 kids........moving house.....me on me own spitting the dummy, and it was back to the fags after 14 yrs!

When she came back she smelt it right away.......the smoke that is ;-) She said she wasn't going to kiss someone smelling like an ashtray unless she had one herself. She theinks *we* only smoke in the evenings :-) I have 'em hidden in the boat........nothing suspicious 'cause she's used to me hanging about in there :-) God help me if she catches me! :-)

BTW, a match end, wrapped in silver paper and shoved into the end of a fag makes a lovely bang also :-)

Hahahaha Kev, fair enough mate. Never heard the match tip one. Does it explode or just fizz up in flames? The cordite won't explode unless it's pressurised. It will just incinerate a cigarette in about a quarter of a second.

If you squeeze all the air outta the silver paper....it should bang.........if it doesn't, you still get a bloody good fizz :-)

I have twelve. Need to build two more dedicated trolling 15kg sticks and maybe a light beach rod to go with the new five inch alvey with the extended base that I have seen on their site..........just dreading the question from the one who has to be obeyed "It looks new"

dont no can't count that high just remember you cant play golf with one club so you cant fish with one rod

got 15 rods and about 18 reels that work, got a few broken rods and reels (do they count)
still got to get a tld25 and rod to suit for coming season (2 wouldnt hurt)
maybe if i point out to the wife that 25 rods and reels in working condition is about the norm, maybe she will loosen the strings

Last time i counted i had 18 rods and reels.

2 strokers,
3 jig rods,
5 short spin stiks,
2 rock rods,
3 baitcasters,
3 surf rods.

Never thought I would own this many , then again never thought i would move from brisbane to cairns either.
Its impossible to fish different scenarios without using different gear, it is even more impossible to educate people about it .
