    Okuma Reels

    Hey Guys,

I saw an Okuma baitfeeder reel the other day. It looked to be a nice outfit - 5 ball bearing, 2 spools and felt quite smooth. At just under $100 for the okuma in camparison to just over $200 for a similar shimano - quite a bit of difference in price.
I have not owned this brand before and was wondering if anyone could give me an opinion? Thanks.
    Davo.

There an OK reel for the money.
I have one, and for a bait feeder it works well.
If you don't have the money to spend on the Shimano I say get the Okuma.

    Re: Okuma Reels

sorry, I have had one Okuma reel and will never buy another. I had drag problems with mine. Warranties are great until you have to use them - reel ain't no good to you if someone else has it to fix for 6-8 weeks!

Spend the extra money on a Shimano and you won't be sorry.

    Re: Okuma Reels

I've owned the Okuma Coronado CD60 and Shimano 3500BTR. The shimano was ten times better. As it turns out someone liked it even more than I did so I no longer have a small baitrunner >. A freind of mine brought an okuma longbow 80 and it has done some good work (feels alot better than the Coronado). I reckon baitrunners are a bit over-rated. 99% of the work done by my old baitrunner could be done with an Abu 6500 and 7000. Believe it or not you can buy both of these reels for the price of one 4500 size shimano baitrunnner.

    Re: Okuma Reels

forgot to mention that had to call on the warranty, but i wasn't the faulty real just a fool leaving the rod & reel in the rod holder as we came in to the boat ramp and they don't like pylons a real lot and it snapped the leg that joins onto the rod, the missus took it back to where we bought it and they sent it away asap no probs and also sold us another at half price, got the reel back no Qs asked all fixed
