Changing Split Rings on lures - How?

Do I need a special tool to change the split rings on my lures?

    Any advice appreciated.

You can buy split ring pliers at most tackle stores. These pliers make life a lot easier when changing them. I don't know the number of times I hooked myself by using long nose pliers to try changing trebles!

one way i have used before, and probably not recomended, i get a sharp knife and splice the rings,as taking the lure of and the splity is open, try slipping the new one on and slide around as sliding the old one off, that way you dont have to open the buggers twice.
    cheers

I prefer the split ring pliers, but a knife blade will work as well-just slip it in where it comes together and spread it out a little to attach the hook or whatever. Needless to say you need to be a little careful but it will do the job.

    Go the split ring pliers!
Much safer than a knife, Cheap as chips anyway.

Buy the cheap split ring pliers, there as good as the expensive ones. Oh, buy a packet of bandaids too!!!

Got the pliers for $15. Thanks all. Now I can cut my fingernails (what's left of 'em).

I have used el cheapo split ring pliers ($4.95) for the last 15yrs and have literally fitted thousands of split rings with them, it only takes a matter of a couple of seconds to fit a split ring with them.

    Cheers
