    Bass minnow jigheads

What size jighead do you use when using the berkley 3" dropshot minnows?

Also any preference to one brand?

1/8th or 1/16th with a #2, #1 or #1/0 depending what I'm after and the current. I usually pour my own and sometimes I could do with an even lighter type.

    Hey,
I mainly use the Gamakatsu round 25 in sizes 1 or 2 in a 1/16 or deeper water a 1/8 i find them to have a resonable lenght hook on em. The Auspin jigheads aren't too bad either nice strong hook, alot of people buy the Mustad Aberdeen hooks and bend them thereselves and add a splitshot to the part that they bend but me personally I 'm too lazy find it easier to buy.

Have been using the TT jigheads in 1/12th, 1/16th and 1/32. All work well with the bass minnows.

1.5gram or 2 gram #2 squidgy brand for bream and flatties if you hook them right.

They are pretty weak hooks and the next purchase i will look for something a little stronger

Have to agree with Beefaman. I'm a big fan of the TT jigheads.

The weight depends on where you are fishing and on how much current there is. I mainly use the 1/20th and 1/16th for where I fish (little to no current)

    Re: Bass minnow jigheads

well i only relly like two types of jig heads
for most single tails i like to use squiggy finesse (spelling?) in sizes .5gram to 2.5gram

but for the bass minows (drop shots)
i only use nitro das heads in 1/16oz
they are my secret weapon when all else isn't working
i know i will catch fish on them even more so when rigged right

squidgy finesse jigheads in 1/2 and 1 gram. much stronger hooks than the regular squidgy ballheads.

im a big fan of the TT's aswell, but i use the Bullethead TT's with 1/22 heads 99% of the time, even in current and it still manages to get down and snag a few fish for me

    Re: Bass minnow jigheads

I don't have some of the expertise of the others above - but I did get lucky with my best score ever at a recent Bream comp.

For everyday I had been using Squidgy ball heads - they are the same price per pack - but you get twice as many. The hooks do not seem as sharp or to stay as sharp.

The newer finesse Squidgy - I like the head shape but the hook is so thick, and that must be less appealing and a visual deterent. Still - good value

TT make a good products - especially the new fine hook ones. I want to try them soon

My favourites are Nitro's - for head shape, and hook. Not the cheapest but the best value - and worked for me best in the competition. I do a small mod and paint on a black eye using a felt pen. ( secrets out)

All of the above relates to targetting bream, on 3inch Berkleys (Gulp! ( Black) and drops shot minnows ( Bloodworm and watermellon). But I also caught pesky by catch like flathead and others.

    Hope this helps
