    Boat Gear for Moreton Bay

I've just bought a boat and am getting back into fishing after about 20 years.
whats the best set up, rod, line size, etc, to get so i can get small to midrange fish without having to buy mulitple equipment?
    thx

    ok you slackos ...

shimano tss4 (sorry alvey)with 18lb line + gary howard bay rod or similar
(you can cast, troll & bait fish with this outfit)

then buy a cheap rex hunt combo for the winter whiting, squid & baitfish catching.

    Crazy,

I have a few sets of gear that I use in morton bay. A Shimano 4500b baitrunner on a Shimano snapper special 6 - 8 kg rod. This use to be loaded with 20lb mono, but have recently put 14lb fireline (fluro) on it. There is very little in the bay that this will not stop, and is good for shallow and smaller fish as well.

I also have a shimano tss4 loaded with 20lb fireline on a one piece 7ft ugly stick. Another excelent bay combo.

The tss4 is particularly versatile as I can use it in the bay bottom bashing, use it spinning palagics, and then a couple of weeks ago I used in at the Barwan Banks in 80m of water.

If you were just after one set that covers everything then the tss4 combo above is hard to beat. They are not as smooth as the baitrunners, but have a big winch that is great for deep or spinning for macks etc.

One rig then the tss4 is it for sure. Get some inox or lanox (better) and after hosing down with fresh water, spray the moving parts and it will last a lifetime.

The leader you need is pen 10x and get 20lb for the bay. If you head further out then you can get 40lb or 80lb and add it to the same reel.

Double uni knot will get you going.

Crazy - Make sure you got all the required safety gear on the boat as the bay is subject to different requirements depending on where u fish.

    Cheers
