G'day Cookie, stock standard my TN 30 pulls around 9 kgs of drag,I have purchased a Cal's drive plate and an extreme drag washer kit from Jack Erskine hopefully it will arive to day,my mates 30 also pulled 9 kgs of drag,he has opted for the new drag washer system that is used in the TN 16 Narrow he has also shimed his standard drag plate with a washer,he is now getting around 15 to 16 kgs of drag. The only problem we have encountered with the 20 size reels is that you can't get a full 300 metres of 80 lbs colour coded braid on the reel,we were using Saltiga and still had 50 to 100 metres left,70 lbs might be different. As far as rods go, the best entry level rod I have seen so far is the Silstar Crystal Blue CB 601 JOH(Jigging Overhead Heavy)but it probably won't be out till christmass,if your looking for something a bit better the T-Curve jigging rods from Shimano are a nice bit of gear.
I here what your saying with line capacity on the 20. I used my mates TN30 during my first jigging outing. Personally I did have troubles laying the line on the 30 nice when I was jigging. I did use a threadline which I found a little easier.
I think some more practiced is required!!!
Thanks also for the info on the drag settings and the plate. When they arrive and I get them installed I'll let you know what sought of figures I'm getting.
