    DAM baitcaster

    Hi Fellas,
Has anyone owned or know anything about the DAM LC2000
baitcasters. They look pretty good value to me.

    Re: DAM baitcaster

I just had to buy it. Apart from the colour of the anodising
and the branding, I can`t see the difference between this reel and a Calcutta 250. The finish, the quality of the machining and I even printed out the parts diagram of the Calcutta and I can`t see any difference.
I usually insist on magnetic cast controls in baitcasters, but I just had to have this reel at $169.00
Calcutta 250`s are around $340.00 in my neck of the woods.
    BARGAIN!

Well I did find 2 differences, the DAM has a titanium coated line guide and an extra ball bearing.

    Gidday reggie

I've got the LC1000. I was very happy with it...at first. After a few trips, not many, it started to play up a bit. I am finding I have to be VERY thourough cleaning it after every salt trip.

Having said that, when it's running well it's a pleasure to use.

    Hi CB,
Thanks for the info mate. Every bit is welcome. I`m just about to take it on it`s first outing, hopefully to bother some flathead.
    Cheers, Reggy

can`t wait to get it wet and dirty so I`ve got a good reason to take it apart

    Re: DAM baitcaster

    G'day Reggy,

I too have the 1000 and the 2000. Top reels !!! Been using the 1000 solidly for the last 5 years with little maintenance and still going strong.

$169 is a very good price, normal retail is around $250 ?

    Cheers
    Craigie.

    To Codbotherer and Craigie,
The star drag wheel seems a little loose on the shaft it tightens down on. Is it the same on your reels?

No, mine has always been fine. Yours doesn't sound right.

    Is it second hand?

    Re: DAM baitcaster

    CB,
I think I`m just getting a bit fussy about that star wheel, I went back and checked out another reel and it was the same.
Yes it was new, discounted at the big A.

    Mines fine.

    Cheers
    Craig.
