    Servicing TLD 20's

I am about to strip and service my TLd's for the first time(6 months old and just not free spooling like they did). Does anyone have any advice before I start on things to be careful of?

Pretty simple job, I've lost count of the times I've done my 10's, 15's 25's and 20/30's.

You need a good phillips head screw driver, small shifter, cleaning solvent, reel grease and oil. Also handy to have the parts diagram.

Getting them apart is easy. Then clean and regrease/re-oil evrything inside EXCEPT the drag plate, which incidentally has a reverse thread and should be very tight. DO NOT GET GREASE OR OIL on this. Do it back up nice and tight.

One tricky bit when reassembling is getting the cam inside the drag knob right; you might have to play with it a coupla times.

Have a go. It's not rocket science. Oh yeah, one more very important thing, when you reassemble the frame, do not overtighten the screws which hold the body together; it's only graphite and strips easily.

    Good luck,
    Yockman

As Yockman says, very easy to service.

For your feelspool issue, I'd be looking at the bearings on the spool shaft first up. If there are signs of saltwater intrusion, then that may be a warranty issue.
