Hi all,
I have a Shimano corsair cs400 it's a little aged.
It has been pulled down and cleaned really well.
When cranking it over there is a hard spot which makes
the winding action lumpy.
Not knowing a lot myself about overhead reels or any
reels for that matter, I am hoping someone can help.
My first guess is that it could be the bearings ,I would
appreciate any advice.
Cheers! Ross
I've had a 400 for about 3 years which I take out regularly and at times it's had a real workout with Mackeral etc.
Never missed a beat and never had any cause to pull it down.
If you're in Bris then take it to Neil Griffiths at Jones's Tackle at Lutwyche - they will get it right for you.
Thanks for your input Davo sounds like the reel has the right credentials.
I'm on the Mid North Coast NSW. Near South West Rocks so
Brizzy is a bit far,but i'm thinking I should find a reel pro down this way and get it right.
Thanks again!
G'day Ross, pull the spool out and spin the gear that drives the level wind, before you spin it check the position and the direction it was traveling(so you can put it back in sync with the line),could be that the pawl or worm drive is worn, this should be evident when the line guide reaches the end and comes back the other way, could be your tight spot.
