Interesting how different rigs work better for some.
I`ve noticed how most people like a levelwind on an overhead for use with gelspun. I`ve found that I get less problems with tangles,
backlashes, overuns etc when I can wind the line on in a very broad pattern, because the line cant dig in as easily.
I lost all my line(had to cut it off)when I got my 7000 snagged
and under locked drag and heavy pulling, the line got burried for a few turns and would not pull out .
The only overhead I use gellspun on now is my 6500ct mag
(no levelwind) but I love it on spin reels.

Most people like levelwinds with gelspun as it tends to cut your fingers. I don't know if lack of a levelwind reduces the backlash problem. I have had no problems on my levelwind baitcasters, but I tried using gelspun on a slightly larger overhead once (no levelwind) and got a couple of very bad backlashes (had to cut them out with a knife). I think the problem is gelspun is not suited to long distance casting on overheads due to the forces involved and to the unforgiving nature of gelspun lines.
