    TSS4 Bearing Removal

Well my old faithfull TSS4 has finally given into manyyears of pretty ordinary maintenance. The bearing above the pinion gear has had the Richard and the whole assembly is locked together pretty tight. Any ideas on how to get it off. I was thinking of using a steel tube to hammer down the bearing from the gear end. Even with a bit of gentle persuasion nothin is budging. Any ideas?

Try a bit of heat on the bearing followed by a shot of inox or wd40 etc on the shaft. do it a couple of times let it sit for an hour or so then heat and it should come off....hopefully.
Alternatively if you have a dremel tool and a few cut off blades, just cut the bearing off being careful not to cut the shaft. This is what I would do..have got dremel
    good luck baldy

does the anti reverse machanism come off? If it does, then maybe put the shaft in a vice so that the bearing sits on top & using some gentle persuasion belt the shaft out of the bearing.

    Thanks Fellas
Finally got it with no damage to anything else. Combination of heat, Inox and some pretty agressive application of force with a hammer fixed the problem. The antireverse was stuck as well but it all came off together. I guess with over 10 years of surf spinning and general Bay/offshore work I should have serviced this area before now.
