alvey reels?
HI, going to buy a alvey light surf reel but not to sure on the right reel to purchase. I suppose it would have to balanced with the right rod, so one of those would be on the cards as well. Any info would be good, be it alvey gear or not. CHEERS woody.

Would depend on what you are going to target but I would suggest a 6000BCV with a Magbream 136 Rod

Re: alvey reels?
i would go the 6" 'a' type matched to a mt4144(4wraps 144" long) style rod in one piece never 2 piece!
#if using it for bream, whiting and dart. i would spool it with 3kg or 4kg line depending on how far you need to cast in your situation you fish at.
# i loved the old 6"estuary champion made of fiberglass on the mt4144 butterworth syderglass rod.
funny how things change and for what!

I have the alvey 600A5 and love it.
Stainless steel back looks great and there is nothing to break on them.
