Hi Steve, in all honesty I couldn't tell you. Do you mind if I ask why you want a rod that long?

    Re: surf rods

From memory, Diawa made a 16ft rod, but it was horrible...much too long and heavy, with a poor action - it was also crimson in colour...(shudder). Here in Kiwi land, I searched for a light, long, and very strong, carbon fibre rod, for fishing off the 180 foot cliffs in my locality. (you aussies are so lucky) The rod required these attributes in order to be able to lift Blue Cod (the target species) of up to a possible, 5 pound in weight. While I'm on the subject of lift...big Mitchell reels are the answer, the 386 ideally, cause lifting heavy fish through all that air, totally destroys lesser reels.
Anyway...the rod I favour isn't 16 foot long, it is just shy of 15, and reasonably priced. It is a Surfmaster, model CS1502, 4.57 metres long, and rated at a cast weight of between 140 and 185 grams. As far as I know, they are still available, but your dealer might need make some enquires. These rods are real stump pullers with a surprisingly good action, considering their length.
I use 8 ounce sinkers , and these are projected effortlessly, further than with any other rod in my considerable collection.
Their only negative, if such is relevant on this powerful a rod, is that they could have been constructed with at least one extra guide, preferably nearer the tip...for cosmetic reasons, if nothing else. This lack, certainly doesn't weaken the rod at all, for the blank is close to a quarter of an inch thick at the tip, and I have skull dragged 11 foot, 7 gill sharks, through heavy surf with absolute ease.
    Hope this helps...Cheers.

    Gday Steve
Mate I use a 13ft jobby the blank is a CR6156 Snyder Glass and it will suffices on any big Jew or Tailor in the surf and will out throw most 12ft standard jobs. You can whip a 10 ball out as hard as you like on 20lb. Do you want the length for cast distance what are your thoughts?
    Regards Aaron
