LEADER LENGTH
I was wondering what length leader everyone uses when soft plastic fishing? Reason Im asking I have just bought Yamatoyo leader and at $20 for 50 metres I didn't want to wasting any I didn't need to. I have been told from two lengths of your rod down to about 1 metre, any opinions greatly appreciated.

Re: LEADER LENGTH
Depends on the water clarity. In reaaly clear water I use about 15feet. Seems to work ok

Re: LEADER LENGTH
It depends what gear you're using Chew.
I use 6lb braid/8lb leader on a nice little 5 1/2' graphite rod (from the kayak). I try to keep the leader length just outside the spool when Im ready to cast. This way the joining knot (improved albright) wont be involved in the casting process. That is to say it wont have to come off the spool and risk catching when Im casting. You can work out then that my leader is only about 5 to 6' long.
On light tackle like this it makes a difference to keep your knot out of the way. I dont know about the heavy stuff some of the other blokes use.

Re: LEADER LENGTH
I normally use about 2m. If I am changing lures alot though, I use a bit longer to allow for the continual trimming of the leader.
