Want to buy some Braid for a couple of reels to use for bottom fishing the reef. Any ideas on brands and breaking strains which have, and continue to perform well for people. Or are there some newer brands performing well. Any help would be much appreciated.
these are the braids that i have used or still using
whiplash-bad
fire line-hard but good
bionic- good
power pro/ penn- very good
tuff line- very very good
i used spider wire/fire line for heavy bottom
tuff line for lures
Fins is really good. I use it on my bottom bouncing outfit in 30lb and it goes great. Really supple but tough when its gettin dragged through reef.
Penn power pro is good, extremely fine diameter which works well. Has half the diameter of fireline in the same weight category. (8lb penn is half the diameter of 8lb fireline)

I use and recommend "Aussea King Ultra". It's made out of the same stuff as braid but is formed as gelspun twist. In my book it's proven to be superior to braid.
For the reef I would go 50lb.
For estuary work, 20lb with a 50lb leader of the same material is dynamite. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]
Timber lures - just bung 'em in the water mate & hang on !!!

I have found after a bit of casting that it would snap. it was not a strong as rated and would frey. I know many people like it but that is the problem i have found. I still have some 100lb but it is not as strong or good as 65lb tuff line
Thanks Krazy, I did notice it gets pretty fuzzy after a days fishing. I better check the breaking strength on that bit or else cut it away. Might try the Tuff line next!
Tuf line is the go for me. After two trips to Weipa and using it for impoundment barra and even spinning for mackeral I'm very impressed. I do use Fireline for the really light stuff too
