    Rod for 24KG Braid/TLD25

    Hi guys,
looking for suggestions for a suitable rod to match to a TLD25 loaded with 24kg braid. I've been fishing 15kg mono with about 5kg drag on my current 15-24kg angler rod. Under full load the line just starts to touch the rod. I want to fish 8kg drag with the braid to try and get revenge on some AJ's and other unstoppables. I assume that the braid rubbing against the rod at high pressure/speed will not do rod or line any good!Is this common and/or OK or should I upgrade??

The wilson live fibre range should have a rod that will do the job without hurting the credit card to much.
Not sure you will get 8kg out of the tld 25 and if you do i don't think it will free spool to well , i could be wrong though i have been before.
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!

    Yeah F_T,
have thought about the Live Fibres but have heard some mixed reports about them. Suspect I'd have same problem with full drag though. You're half-right about the TLD drag it's being machined & tricked up with kevlar to get the full 8kg's.

    Spiro / Tony,
Thanks for the feedback. What model Live Fibres are you using? Also, what KG line (mono/braid) are you running on them and do you check your drag settings with scales - if so what KG's are you pulling?

    Cheers

Blue escape,Live Fibre is an excellent choice though would have thought that Angler Rods would have been also??ide say the guide spacing may be a tad out to be touching ??..
Just putting 24kilo stick together myself in the kevlawrap and not saying its abetter choice but one hell of a Bottom basher in the 24kilo range if one wants to go that heavy ..
Try upload some of the progress to date..

Volvo, are you sliding your foregrip over the fancy bindings. That should make a neat job.

Blue-escape, I like my '15-24kg Livefibre TLD25 setup but only run max of 6kg drag over it it with 50lb braid

Horse, yep makes wrapping the wrap a tad easier without a big build up of masking tape over the foregrip without too much movement of threads..Can be a tad dicey if one doesnt know what they is on about and possabillity of doing the wrap all over again...But onlyway to go if you dont mind running the risk(only a small risk too by the way)..
Just need to get guides to suit reel seat and gimble next ..
Blue escape fergot ta mention you may be one guide short if getting rub on blank or may need higher profile guides??..

I have been using the Live Fibre Classic M10 with 50lb braid. It is excellent. The extra rod length gives plenty of power and control.

Another vote for the Live Fibre, though I've also got a homemade rod on a Sabre blank that works well with 50.

    cheers,

i'd use some high modulus carbon fibre, other wise you'll need all your strength just to hold the rod up!
#look for a 5'4" short stroker blank or an off the rack socal. style yellafin rod. e-glass has a slow reflex to it!
