i have just bought first boat and am tryin to work out my gps i got with it. It's a Globalmap100 and i don't know how to change it to recognise any waypoints in Australia. It is tellin me that there is 9999k's to destination when i know they are jus feww k's offshore. If anyone could tell me how to change it i would be truely gratefull.

It sounds like you need to do a 'cold start' on the gps. You should be able to locate this option somwhere in the menu. If the GPS has travelled a certain distance from last time it was turned on it can do this. It needs to find the satellites properly again instead of trying to go straight to them from it's memory (short explanation).
Anyway, a cold start should fix the problem.
Let me know how you go and I'll se if I can help some more.
      Cheers, Mark.
PS probably in the section about GPS settings

            Hey Darwin Fisher.

Are you entering waypoints from and old GPS or from a chart?

Sounds like the datum your GPS is using may be different from the one your waypints are on.
Not sure of the Lowrance brand but should be in Setup page. Set it too WGS84 or whatever the points you are trying to use are in.

            Cheers,
            Brad.
