    Stella/Saltiga...Don't try this at home!!

Came across this on another tackle forum....scary/amazing stuff

"I have been testing the TwinSpin here (before leaving to SA) in the GT destroy-replica test involving a motorbike, a tree, some 130lbs braid, a set of 45KG scales and plenty of sweat and aching arms.

Test 1 : 17KG of drag, 130lbs braid, 200 lbs shock leader tied to a Honda Transalp 750. Rod pointing directly at the bike, 10 meters of braid coiled on the ground in front of the tip. Honda revs and shoots away at 45Km/h for 100 meters. We did this 5 times in a row. The spool was so hot I couldn't touch it. The drag got better as it warmed up.
I have measured the less torque on this reel than on any other reels. Drag stayed smooth and consistant all the way. No peak of tension wahtsoever.

Test 2 : 20 kG of drag, line tied to the bike, spool high on the shaft, roller at the bottom of the spool. Honda starts and pulls for 100 meters at slow speed whilst I gradually crank the drag up to the 30 KG mark. We broke a Saltiga roller cam like that...TwinSpin handled the load no problem. The bending of the roller cam is minimal even at 30Kgs. Very impressive. I reckon you could bust off 100lbs line straight off the reel if needed.

Test 3 : Line tied to a tree 30 meters away, 17KG of drag and I struck hard so that the drag gives line about 50 times. The anti-reverse of my Stella gave up during that test and got stuck, TwinSpin didn't blink an eye. We also broke a Saltiga like that back in October."

If this is how this reel has been treated it is nothing short of incredible.I say this because two weeks ago my mates old man pulled out of going to the tackle show and at the last minute I got a reprieve and jagged the invite,on one of the stands this reel, claimed to be the only proto type in the country, was displayed and although it looked like it had been fished hard and not looked after cosmeticaly it did not have any free play in the handle or the rotor head,I turned up the drag to the point where I could barely turn the spool and it still seemed realy smooth,it did weigh a bit more but I suppose you could cop that if it was that strong.
