Thread: spooling braid

    spooling braid

I have just re-spooled two shimano baitrunners BTR 3000 and 6500 with braid and noticed that neither reel layed the braided line flat. Both reels loaded more line at the front and rear of the spool with a pronounced hollow in the centre section. This didn't happen with mono and the overall differences in line diameter wasn't very great. Is this a common occurrence with braid on threadlines?

common in the BTR series that's for sure... Trust me.. it has no bearing on the casting ability of the reel... mine did the same thing and I was a little worried about it.. but it casts fine..no problems

Any shimano bait runner i've ever seen does this! Its not a problem
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!

the only thing i have found is if hopping soft plastics on the 3000 the line can sometimes loosen after a few casts on the spool and eventually come of in a big knot the next cast.but this has also happened on a couple of my other reels as well.

Many thanks for the feedback guys. Hopefully I'll get the chance to test the braid over the next couple of weeks.
