Re: watch new inventor wed nite new concept spool
I watched that show the other night.
I think If it was used by a regular lure fisho it would probably drive them mad. They like to control the action of a lure themselves, not having it constantly retrieve in a set cyclical type motion.
but in saying that, as said above, you would probably be able to market it to the once a year or inexperienced fisho on one of the late night infomercial type shows. You know the sort ?, where the first hundred callers get a free set of steak knives or something.
Not wishing to be negative, but you asked for comments. I don't think you'd get a rave review from people on a specialist fishing forum

Re: watch new inventor wed nite new concept spool
Gday guys thanks for all the comments which are much appreciated,it will always be hard to get a new idea on the market but i think this is better than more bb they can jam into a reel.I take the point for hard body lures which already have action but how about plastics, surface poppers, mullies and add to the sonic effect,i want more people out there to fish and if this idea can help all .One of the benefits is i does not have to be in the pulse position but like the normal spool,it is a case of choice which was not there before

Gday I WILL HAVE REELS HERE IN 6 TO 7 WEEKS AND THE REASON WE ARE NOT RETRO FIT AT THE MOMENT IS COST OF MOULDS. JUST WISH THERE WAS A INTERNATIONAL STANDARD FOR 2000 ,3000, 4000 TO 9000 AS THEY HAVE THE SAME NUMBERS BUT THE DIMENSIONS ARE DIFFERENT.THE REEL IS A 2500 SIZE 5 BB ANTI REVERSE WITH NEW KEVLAR COMPOSITE CLUTCH MATERIAL

Re: watch new inventor wed nite new concept spool
A good mate used his home made spool arbors years ago for spinning with lures.
Basically he made a split plastic filler that was triangular in shape that fitted to his spool and you wound your line onto it. On retrieve it gave the lure a slightly erratic movement towards the reel.
The downside was however you needed a fairly large diameter spool to make a big difference.
Variable speed gearing would be attractive too if someone could nut out how to maintain synchronizing varied pitches.
