    Mix and matching spools

Just wondering if there is any reason you cannot use spools from one reel on another if they fit on the sharft and there is enough thread to wind the drag washer on.

Reason I am asking is that I have a couple of reels that I use a lot, but would like to run them with mono when in shallow snagy areas, and have a few other reels that have good spools but the reels are not the greatest for varying reasons.

So if one fits on another, can you swap them.

I know it will not be absolutely optimum, but if 50% of optimum and I would still be happy.

best to try it and see. Drag should be OK, but laying line back on the spool evenly may be a problem.

    Thanks Jeremy.

Will give it a go. By the lack of posts, I will assume that nobody can see any reason why not. Probably just never thought of trying it. So like you suggest, if it fits and if it lays line ok, then I suppose there is no reason why not.
