more line?
I just bought a new Tld 20 and have put some line on it but there is still a fair bit of space left on the reel. I put a 50lb mono backing (approx 40m) on then some 50lb braid (the lot - 257m).
Do I need to put more on or is this ok? Can you join briad to braid?
We don't get a chance to go outside so the main use will be mackerel in the bay and possibly down the coast.

i think even though that is space left on the spool that you should have plenty on. How often is a fish going to take 250m of line if you are going in the bay &
off the coast chasing Mackerel.

Re: more line?
you probably have it perfect, I prefer the reels with braid to be underspooled, it cuts the number of backlashes right down.

Re: more line?
underspooling also helps to ease pressure on the gears of the reel. particularly important when fishing 50lb briad on tlds

The best way to get the line level where you want it is to spool on the braid first, then fill the rest of the way with mono, then reverse the whole lot.
Wished I'd have thought of that method before all the trial and error I went through. #Think I saw it posted here by basserman and maybe others.
Make sure it's spooled up nice and tight so the outer turns of braid don't drop inside the inner layers when pressure is applied.
What the others said about not filling the spool too far is good advice.
