Was wondering if anyone has ever had problems with their rod/reels coming loose or falling out of their 'rocket launchers' or any other of their rod holders while travelling?
Especially when crossing a bar?
What kind of damage was done, or did you ever lose your beloved combo to the deep briny?

Never lost a rod, but just in case I have a little hook on either side of the rocket launcher and thread jinki equivalent leader through the overheads onto the hooks. The leader is good because of the stretch you can have a nice tight fit. Even when I am not carrying 6 rods (which is unusual) I place two of the rods on the outside of the laucher so the length of the leader still fits nicely.
Had one of my spin rods jump out in very rough conditions but luckily it landed in the boat wit no damage, use a lenghth of stretchie chord to secure the rods with if the sea gets up now.
a mate of mine contributed his brand new torium and backbone rod to the 36 fathom reef off tweed,(first day he fished with it)came out of my berkley adjustable rod holder (wasn't in properly).we tried hooking it off the bottom for about 1/2 hour or so ,I think we had it most of the way up at 1 stage but to no evail.devistated.
Nearly lost 50 2 speed in the drink off tweed a couple of months ago . the weld on the holder broke and i was travelling at speed and luckily noticed it sitting 90degrees to where it should have been
have since got them all rewelded by dave at greens marine as i troll off them as well but still have safetys cords on when trolling . Guess its good policy to put safetys on at all times when in the rack

I've got rod holders facing forwards and backwards on my launcher to double the number of rods I can carry. Problem is the forward facing holders are hard on your gear in any sort of chop.( after a 4 day comp , handles and things start to come loose )
I reckon Newby could come in on this one and share some Wisdom.
