Strudwick rods... any good?

If you are breaking them while you are actually fishing it will be between the tip and 2nd or 3rd runner. Cause is high sticking. Usually when landing the fish.

strudwick rods essentially have no warranty. They believe that it is never the rods fault that it breaks.. it is always the user. they do have a loyalty program that works like so>> you send them the butt end of your rod> you send them $140 and they send you a new rod.. Personally I believe this to be a shocking system for a rod manufacture of that stature to do that.. Stick to your live fibres people.. they are a great company to deal with and have a great warranty.... strudwick will soon be a thing of the past. I believe they were not even at this years tackle show on the Gold Coast.

Personally I would be better off keeping the $140:00 spending another $75:00 the original purchase price,and forget the warranty. I'll have to go and make a bulk purchase before they leave the market, cause they are to damn good for the money.

yeh ive been using my sicstik frequently for about a year now and i dont have any experience with other brands of rod but i love mine to bits, i take good care of it and as a result it serves me well...

I am currently using a sic stick pro 2-4kg, for 90% of my soft plastic work.
I find the rod very, very close to the perfect action for it's purpose. My son also has one and agrees about it's action. As others said, they require a lot of caution in how you handle, transport and store a rod like this. I have seen a couple of them with broken tips, but they have always been the result of poor or unlucky handling. Many people do not understand what they have purchased, and expect all rods of quality to be extremely strong and able to handle being thrown in the car or boat, and then blame the rod.
Simple fact in that case is they do not understand the item they have purchased.
I will not even show a lot of people the sic sticks, as you must be an accomplished or very knowledable fisho,to understand why you would purchase one in the first place.

PS...You don't buy a fine crystal glass to drink from, and treat it like a tin mug, however if you treat it as crystal, it's very nice to drink from and does the job it is mean't for.

I have 2 Strudkwick sicstiks. 1 is a 7' 1-3kg sicstik pro which I happened to break at the Flathead Classic. Now I sent it in for warranty as it was only 11months old and broke the 1st cast after landing a decent sized tailor. I went back after 1.5 weeks and was told by the manager at the tackle store that Strudwick will most probably not honour the warranty as they reckon they have some fandangle bullsh#t machine which can tell whether the rod was broke accidently or by manufacturers fault. Luckily the manager has said if they do not replace it under warranty that he will gladly step in. Not very good service if u ask me & has totally turned me off buying another Strudwick again. You pay for what you get and I am more than happy to buy more upmarket rods knowing they will not break after landing 1 decent sized fish.
