I just picked up a hyperloop fb reel and a shimano spectrum rod and wanted to know if anyone else used it and has any luck with it?

sorry mate, never heard of it. where did you buy it and at what price? should give a reasonable indication of what to expect. (though with some buggers picking up calcutta combos for $50 who knows?!)

I picked it up from bluefin sports for $69.95 and the guy said its a model that came out this year...

ROD: shimano spectrum plus 6'6" spin and line weight is 3 - 5kg
REEL: 4000FB hyperloop (ball bearing)

Well the reel isn't on www.shimanofish.com.au so are you sure it is a current model ? And the rod isn't listed under the spectrum series either.

this is a combo in the shimano summer catalogue.
All purpose budget model. Ok for the occasional angler. Maybe not quite as serious as a calcutta combo....
