Now that the weather is starting to get warmer and the toothy critters are starting to show up i think it is time i bought my better half a spin outfit.I will be using a TSS 4 so what rod would you suggest.

I just bought a TSS-4 and a suitable rod yesterday.
Depends on your budget
Silstar 8-10kg powertip 7 foot i got for $109
There is ugly sticks getting around for about the same price
Then you got the better quality wilson live fibre for like $160+
You will probably want between 7-8 foot of rod to get the casting distance
Your best of going to the shop and having a feel and see what you like.

8fter over a 7fter anyday mate. IMO, it's easier to keep the slug in the water with a 8fter. I would even go as far as to say i prefer a 9ft if you have the space in the boat. As the skipper, I am always the last to cast into the school so the extra distance from more length helps. Plus the 9ft will keep the slug in the strike zone even longer. In saying that, it is hard, if not impossible to find 9ft 8kg+ spin sticks

Back to the fishing rods.I am currently using a Daiwa bluewater spin rod with Rod Harrisons name on it and it has served me well over the years.
In the end i will have to go and have a look at a few but for now just after a few suggestions from guys from here instead of some salesperson trying to sell me something that i don't really need.

ugly stiks and crystal tips just don't have fast enough recovery in the tip to be a good casting rod. Much better off with a full graphite rod.

Girl or not, jeremy's right! If you go to the expense of a tss4 and your not going custom match it to a live fibre. She'll cast better and be in more control during the fight. Spend the extra $40 and get an outfit suited to the job! In any case you may use it yourself...foxy
Well at the end of the day you aren't gonna catch more fish if you have a graphite rod i'm sure, but if you wanna spend the extra money that option is there.

mjc- i get in this arguement everytime fishing rods and gear are mentioned.(so dont take it personal) I strongly believe quality matched gear does make not only a difference but a huge difference. Sure on any given day a bit of luck can out catch all the best gear but in general this is not the case. Give someone the correct gear from the start and they'll thankyou for it down the track.
Everyone must purchase to a budjet, in this case though a slightly above average rod will allow Dazzas better half to cast that bit further and aid in the fight of the fish. If she's reaching the fish and catching them dazza's life will be made alot easier.
No budget was mentioned but by asking what is the best option the advise has been given and without going to custom gear, the readily available off the shelf live fibres are a good option. There by no means the best but there a hell of alot better then a rod that wasnt even designed for the job.
If you're going to stick with the tss4 then full graphite is the go provided it can be kept safely.Nothing wrecks the day quicker than the sound of a $200 stick snapping
If you were going for an o'heads then uglies,power tips are the go for their slower recovery speed .I have a 7'light power tip with an abu 5000 sprint 6.3:1 for light poppers and slugs,easy as to cast with real guts down low.
Just bought a live fibre 7' light spin and tica spin focus 3000 6.2:1 for plastics and light spin work ,topped off with 8lb fireline,now waiting for weather to turn to crap just in time for the weekend

Foxy is right i didn't put a budget on this as i am open to suggestions and i will certainly look at all the above options.I personally believe you get what you pay for.If you pay a bit more and the outfit lasts you 10yrs or more it is a good investment.
I may even have to look at upgrading my spin rod if i am looking at live fibre
