whats the best baitcaster under $200??

    hey all,
i need to replace my old baitcaster, and i have a limit of $200 in which i hope to buy a rod and reel combo or seperately etc. I want a combo that i can use for fishing in estuarys as well if i go out boat/bottom fishing etc. Iam leaning towards the abu garcia 6500C combo from BCF for $189, but i would like to hear some other opinions from more avid and experienced fisherman in which is the best deals.
The main thing is i want a rod and reel which is comfortable catching mangrove jacks, barra etc as well as some bigger fish (reef) if the need arises. i would appreciate your replys.
    cheers
    Dave

I have 3 abu baitcasters, and one of them is a 6500. These are great reels and I have had many great years of service from them. Regular maintenance is the best insurance for long time service of these reels. All my drags are now modified to a wet drag system. One of the local tackle shop here in Townsville sells leather washers for these reels, and they make a serious difference. I lock up the drag and not be able to strip the 30lb braid off. Jack Erskines in Cairns sell a drag upgrade kit for most popular baitcasters and the 6500 is included in the linup, from memory the washer are called smoothies. [ftp]http://www.jackerskine.com/[/ftp] is the link. With the leather washers I run I use a grease manufactured by Cal's two speed reels. I also clean the bearings in solvent and lubricate them with a product call Reel Power Oil. This makes a huge difference to the casting range and drag stopping power.

    Dave,

I think the Abu 6500 would suit you well it's reliable and will cast Jack/Barra lures but will still go ok on smaller reef fish.

Look around for prices because you should be able to get one for under $150.
BCF has one or two decent specials but as a whole there gear is expensive.

    Good Luck
    Doomy

Edit : Just noticed that your price is for a combo which sounds alot more resonable.
