    Re: knots

Looks like just a variation on a normal albright but using loops instead of just the single line. Might stop a normal albright from slipping as much (which they are supposed to do sometimes with braid).

This is why I tend to use the improved albright, which has wraps on the way up and down, and then some superglue just to make sure. Hasn't got any chance of slipping then..

Richard. Give the Stren a go. I know a lot of the guys from the bream site have changed over from albrights and biminy twists to the stren. Its simple and very strong.

Like Richard said , that is just an albright with the braid doubled.
I always double braid for any knot.
Tie a bimini in the braid first and give your self about a metre or more of loop, then do like in the link except wind about 5 or 6 loops on the way and on the way back down.
I think if you do some tests you will find it will hold more weight than a double uni, even with the braid doubled first.

Maybe , Maybe we all are , never met you so I am not in a position to comment.

But getting back to the swivel, sometimes you dont want a swivel , like if you are trolling, or flicking lures or plastics with a baitcaster.
Also unless you buy decent roller bearing type swivels (the black ones), you would be surprised how easily they break or pull in half or cut your mono line.
Next time the weather is shit and you cant go fishing invest a couple of hours tying rigs in different ways with different knots and pulling them until they fail. See where they fail, not many just break the line its usually at a knot. Use a bucket as weight so you can put water in and measure which is strongest. Once you have a few basics sorted out you can use them for the rest of your life, or at least until someone invents a new knot or type of line with different properties to braid or mono. Remember you may end up with a few different solutions depending on the line class. Thin braid can cut like a knife , thicker not so bad.
