    Re: knots

i tend to use a double uni Knot. and then sometimes coat it in super glue. (it makes it super strong)

    or an albright knot

here are links to the knots

    Albright: http://www.marinews.com/fishing/Knot...k_albright.htm

double uni: sorry can;t find a link for the double uni knot.

    Re: knots

I used to be an albright man all the way but have recently switched to uni knot. Albright is still a good knot but you really do need a double in the braid to stop it cutting through the mono. Uniknot is definitely better when not doubling the braid with bimini or whatever.

Do a search on this topic & see what comes up. It gets discussed at very regular intervals. I always suggest the Stren knot. I was using the Uni for a while but I reckon the Stren is stronger.

    Re: knots

Use of a double ensures that the join knot is not the weakest point in the chain because effectively it doubles the strength of the line at the knot and therefore even if the knot is only 80% efficient then it will still be of greater strength then the main line. I use an albright, but any of the above will do because of the double. As long as you can effeciently tie the bimini twist then go with what you find easier.

    Re: knots

I use loop to loop from leader to braid.
3 surgeon knot on the braid to make the loop and 2 turns surgeon knot on the mono. i found this the strongest so far.

    Re: knots

I always go for an improved albright knot if your talking from braid to mono leader.

For 20-30lb braid to ~60lb leader (for barra/jacks/whatever), I do 5 turns up, then 5 turns down. Slide the knot tight then apply a little bit of superglue to the knot to stop it slipping that last little bit which can either slice the mono or let it slip off the end of the loop.

Pulled in plenty of big fish with this knot and it doesn't fail me even when hooked up to a solid snag.

We swear by a bimini and an albright never had any problems.

This one looks interesting. I am yet to give it a try so can't comment on its effectiveness.
