Hi all, just checking out the "E" Bayy and noticed four cheap new SEQ/Northern NSW Sea Charts going up for sale. They look worth their while, however has anyone got comments on safe buying here.

offshore_4.9, I've had a number of dealings on Ebay with no problems. In saying that, one of the most common threads on their forums is "Newbies" and their ability to disappear with your hard earned dollars. This person is obviously a newbie with no feedback and having joined in Jan this year. Again, this doesn't make the auction a dud, it may just means he/she is looking for a new avenue for their product/item, but the main part is the fact that this is an auction....so a bid of $40 is seen as the starting bid and may well go much higher, and you have to take into account the freight cost of $13.50, which does seem a little steep with no insurance offered. Many Ebayers charge over the going postage rate and call it a handling fee. If you are happy that the buyer is genuine, the charts are in good condition, the price represents value for money, and the sale conditions are to your liking, go for it. Seems to me to be a fair deal, if the description is accurate. Ask the questions first, do they have pen marks (I realise they're laminated), what is their age and issue number, have they been updated according to AHS postings, etc..

Hi Geoff, have sent a pm to the ebay seller and she stated that the sea charts are brand new and never used. I think it's a divorce job, he got the boat and she's taken everything that was inside it. LOL
Anyway thanks for the good advice, it appears these are quality maps and the person is a genuine seller.
