    I used to have break offs in the braid using the half hitches but since using the "pull through" method I haven't had one. That's probably not to say I wasn't doing something wrong before as I still see many pros using hitches at places like boating/fishing shows.

    as mackmauler said use outward pressure on the double to twist the tag down over the initial twists

    to finish a bimini i do a half hitch around each strand of the double, then 2-3 hitches around the whole lot. been doing it for years in all types of braid and mono and still have never had a bimini fail.

    ran some tests on bugmans scales, the pull through failed miserably but the method you use wheezer broke at line class well above the double every time.
