PENN GTO220 any thoughts???

Hi guys,

I was walking in Kmart and saw this combo from jarviswalker GTO220, what are the thoughts about the product???
It's on special a the moment for around $100, should i get it?? I use it for boat fishing, aiming at salmon, whtting, blue leather jacket, parrot fish.

For the price it is a great outfit. its very tough to find an overhead at the same quality for less.

look around as ive seen it around $90 before

chasing those fish though it might be a bit large.
id be looking for a lighter spin outfit.
what sort of size fish are we talking about?
what depth range do you generally fish in?
those answers will help people answer your question better.
the rod is a 6ft 12kg stick fairly major stuff for small whiting and salmon.

Sorry what do you mean by "overhead" ??
Sorry i am pretty new to fishing just went out last weekend to Queensciff, the captain take us out for around 30 mins and started fishing.
The size of the fish approx 40 cm.
I am a Right Handed person, is the mode suitable for me, i was holding it and it look like it's for left handed, is that to do with "Steel Level Wind"?? What does it mean???

bascailly an overhead is designed to have the reel sitting ontop of the rod as apossed to a spinning reel sitting on the bottom.

overheads are mroe suited to fishing in deep water, live baiting and trolling.

the penn GTO220 is designed to sit on top of the reel so yes it is a right handed reel.

for chasing the fish your targeting id be looking at a light spinning outfit a rod around the 7ft mark upto 6kg, and a spin reel in the 2500 range.

in kmart you might find a few outfits meeting this criteria.

depending on your price range depends what you would go for.

a few decent spinning reels include
Shimano Aernos, Sedona, Daiwa Samurai 3i. all under the $100 mark

rod wise some of your silstar spin sticks or ugly sticks would do the job. again under the $100 mark

a good idea would be to head to a specialist tackle shop and the staff should be able to see you in the right direction.

Ok what is the advantage and disadvantabge for overhead vs spinning reel?
What is the disvantage for gettting a medium to heavy overhead (reel and rod) when fishing for 6 kg or less fish???
