    First Baitcaster reel

    Hey guys,
Want to buy my first baitcaster reel and being a Shimano fan, am looking at either the Cruxis, Citica or Curado Bantram. I can get the reels for $170, $220 and $230 respectively. I'll be using the reel mainly for throwing small lures at and trolling for bream, trout and bass but will also use it for the occassional trip up north chasing barra, jacks and togas.
Any feed back would be good

    rocket,
experienced fishers find it difficult to throw small (light) lures with a baitcaster. you'll need a lot of patience if your trying to learn technique at the most difficult end of a baitcasters spectrum.
The shimanos are great reels but you dont have to spend that much to get a quality baitcaster. Models that have a wiffle (drilled, hollow, large base diameter) spool will be easier to cast with small, light lures. The Pfleuger Echelon is only $85-$90 bucks. super smooth, lots of features and wiffle spool for low dollars. I'm a shimano fan myself but recently i've found that sometimes it pays to be less one eyed and see what else is out there. You may be plesantly suprised.

    cheers, roo.
