    Cast nets

    Hi guy could some one explain the differnce between a standard cast net a top pocket and a draw string cast net thanks

    A standard castnet is just the net with the cord attatched to the top, a draw string has heavy nilon line running through the centre of the net and attatching to the bottom so when you pull it in the sinkers are pulled up inside the net creating a big pocket underneith. Sorry its a bit hard to explain but i hope it helped.

    Top pocket nets are basically and predomatley used for prawns, as prawns will jump to the top of a net when caught, thus making it easier to tip said prawns into a bucket, as the top opens via a drawstring.

    Bottom pockets acan be used for prawn ( as I do ), but are mainly used for baitfish.
