I think stick to the natural colors , im not sure of the names but the bwonish and red colours are all good.
You can cut them in half but it wrecks the action of the lure..
Depending on what fish your chasing, you ca use the hole thing with a normal jig head at the front and tie a stinger hook fro the jig head to the back of the 6inch worm..
In my opinion, you can't go wrong with either color you mentioned. In clear water, lighter colors seem to work better and in darker, murkier water, darker colors work better. This is because in those conditions, they are more easily seen by the fish. This also seems to apply to depths (because of the amount of light). When I fish higher in the water, I use white (or other bright/flashy/silvery/yellowy/firetigery..... ..... lures) but when I fish down near the bottom, I switch to darker, more natural colors like brown, black, purple etc.
Surface baits are slightly different. I usually stick to darker baits as they contrast better against the sky background.

The gulp worms are best fished as a bait rather than a lure, use a standard hook to suit the species you are targetting.Thread the worm on to the hook about 1 1/2 inches down from the top with as little weight as possible to suit the situation, (a small split shot about a foot above the hook, or no weight at all, if possible)and "twitch, twitch, twitch". Best to use the worm whole, to get the natural movement effect, but they can be cut in half. They are not a plastic, but an actual food grade material with added scent. The fish seem to luv em.
