Up to 200 feet for average reefies I use 30 lbs braid with a double paternoster in 40 lbs mono leader, floatling baits - 20lbs mono with 20 to 40 lbs mono leader, over 200 feet I use a reefmaster with 80 lbs braid with a triple paternoster in 60 lbs mono leader.

Sorry, should of given more info. Will be eventually venturing out to the banks, hutchies, etc. As I've never been out there before I have no idea of current, depth, even what the best bait is. Mainly targeting Snapper etc.

Was going to do it trial and error, but then thought why not post the question.

    Thanks Banshee.

I usually use 50lb braid for bottom bashing, with 80 or 100lb leader. A running ball sinker onto a gang of three 7/0 hooks, or a paternoster with hooks anywhere from 6/0 up to 12/0 .... depending what you are targetting.

For snapper, think about floating baits down slowly in a burley trail. Use no sinker or a very small one is there is current about. The snapper will hit hard in the mid to upper area of the water column. I use 10kg mono for floating baits.

    Cheers,

    Mark
