I have Fireline in Smoke on my Raider/Stratic combo & i find i miss alot takes as i can't see it as well & because of this i'm just about to replace it with 4lb Pink the same as my Squidgy/Sienna set up..
I am talking about braided lines, which colour do you think is better. natural colours or high vis colours and why.

If u run a fairly long leader colour shoulden't matter imo.
Braid is not my line of choice experimented a fair bit when it was first released but did find a long leader helped.
I do find it useful in deep water.
Hope this helps
I used fluro yellow fireline for reef fishing at first with NO results. Changed to smoke and then extended my leader (berkley vanish) to 4 metres and that did the trick. Fluro only helped when trolling a few lines..
I agree with brrbear, colour shouldnt worry the fish too much as long as the leader is fairly long. I used to use the smoke / green colours but visibility isnt great early morning & late afternoon for baitcasting and the brighter colours are definitely better for trolling. I use the pink bionic braid on my chronarch, with a leader length from the rod tip to just above the front grip on a 6' rod. I use yellow superbraid on my bluewater gear.
cheers slugger.

If you are lure casting then the use of the brighter colours are a must to be able to see the tentative baits by way of line watching. Anything from flatties to bream I cannot fish with lures confidently now without using a bright colour braid.

hi rod could u explain in a bit more detail please.
Do u mean u see the strike when retrieving before feeling the bite or when lure is at rest.
When fishing SPs, most of the time the fish takes the lure on the drop, ie. when the line is slack. #Often you can't feel the bite, so you need to be alert and watch the line closely for a twitch or a sudden movement.Originally Posted by brrbear

thanks
Thats about it mate. THey almost always hit on the drop and 9 out of 10 times you will see the hit before you feel it. Thats why I cannot use any braids in smoke or grey colours because I feel restricted in not being able to line watch.
Hope that helps

Just a little info about colour. As you go deeper the colours of your line change. For example pink is one of hte first colours to disappear at depth but, at depth only green tinges are reflected so your line now appears green. Crystal clear mono/flurocarbon will also refract light under water which results in the line appearing as a shilloette(black). Going off this your choice of leader should depend on depth you are fishing, the shallower you fish the more advantage flurocarbon will have because of its lower refractive index. It also means that the colour of your mainline shoudl depend on whether you want a high vis line for you to see or, a low vis line. All in all diameter (abrasion resistance V visibility) of the line will affect results more than colour.
