    24kg Trolling/Livebaiting

    Hello all,

New to this site and it looks like a great avenue to gain some fishing info.

I am looking at some Triton Trolling Series reels in the 50 and 50W range. Can anyone tell me the gear ratio and line capacities for 50lb mono on these reels?? Were they a reliable reel?? Were the drag systems capable of applying the 20lbs - 25lbs of pressure I require?? How important is having two speeds on game reels??

Fish to be chased include large hard running pelagics i.e Southern Bluefin Tuna, wahoo, mackeral

Any help regarding the above would be great

    Cheers

When you say the triton series of reels, are you meaning the tld 2 speed 50's? If so, you can fit around 650m of 24kg line on them. The reels are great for standup fishing and have reliable drags and components. Once you start fishing with heavier lines, the two speed can be a great help. The only draw back with these reels when compared with the likes of a Tiagra, is the reduced line capacity. I would only say this would be a problem if you were fishing for blue marlin, etc.
What size tuna are you expecting to encounter? I think 2 speed 50s are bigger than you need to catch wahoo and macks.
