TSS4 or the Okuma EFS-80 (Or EFS-60 if you want slightly smaller)
Hiya Angler.
Depends how much you have to spend, and what line class you want to use.
Whats your budget?
What species are you chasing?
Cheers!
TSS4's are not very refined but they do the job pretty well. A lot less things in them to break compared to the Okuma etc
Neil
TSS4
I spin with a "Mitchell Nautalis 7500" got the rubber boot on the body and other water proofing seals arond the place , had it for about 2 yrs no probs spooled with 15lb mono , good for beach and rock work. like all spinning reels I wouldnt knock it about like the alvey.
Cheers
Barry
Take photos and memories leave only footprints, respect the enviroment when 4 wheel driving , never be too busy to help out someone in need.
shimano power aero 5 or 8 . Smooth as $230 delvered from Japan. Punch up ebay.com and list shimano power aero. Gynrenpech sell them.
Shimano Spheros 14000FA. Its noticably better than the TSS-4 as it has an ally body compared to a graphite one. Wouldn't want to flex that bad boy reeling in a mack or something like that. On the flipside the ally body means it is a bit heavier (~300g), but far more robust particularly since you are chasing pelagics.
You can also upgrade the reel for about $30 - 40 to be a "budget" Stella with another bearing race and carbontex drag washers.
What about the old Penn Spin Fishers.... look around there still a few getting about...tough as nails, hard to break!!! Roddy
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!
yeah i was looking at the okumas.
im looking to spend around 200 give or take some.
20 pound braid is what i want to put on it.
Did anyone say TSS4all depends do u want a threadline or overhead.... and what species...
one of the best threadies for HSS applications is the Daiwa EmblemX 5500a - I think its out of production now and has been replaced by the virtually identical Emblem Pro 5500... 122cm of line retrieved per crank, produces an easy 6kgs of drag and will outcast virtually any other threadie out there (they use it to win distance casting comps in the threadline category)
I've had my Emblem X for 4 or 5 years now using it to spin for jew (landed up to 14kg - yes I know jew don't fight that hard), beach fishing for jews (taken stacks of jew and dirty bronzies) and HSS off the rocks (only landed rat kings to 5kgs on it though) - never serviced it and it still works perfect...
takes 300m of 10kg mono (.40 diameter) - you might need to back it with some braid to get extra capacity depending on what you're fishing for though...
hope this helps!
By the way the power aero has a 19kg 2 stage drag long cast spool 300m of 10kg now being used by japanese surf fisherman. This reel spins as freely as my stella. Graham
cheers guys definitely a few to think about
