    NEW KNOT

i`ve been using a knot that i developed myself. it is very simple, has a small , unobtrusive profile, and combines the virtues of the albright and the palomar, "Reggy`s Palbright"
it is for joining a braid main line to a mono leader, but the leader needs to be in one piece, that means no terminal tackle on the end yet.

you double your mono, then double your braid and pass it in between the doubled mono, go around the doubled mono 3 times and back up through the loop in the end of the mono, the same way you went in,
and then take the other end of the mono trace and pass it through the
loop in the braid. wet and pull tight.

i`d love to get some feedback on this knot, try it and tell me what you think guys.

    Re: NEW KNOT

    Hi there reggy,

I doubled the braid, and doubled the mono. I then passed the braid loop through the mono loop, then proceeded to wrap the doubled braid 3 times around the doubled mono....which is the beginnings of an albright (except we're using a double line instead of a single).

Then there is some ambiguity from here. You mentioned that we should pass the end of the doubled braid through the mono loop the same way as we went in......so does this mean that if we initially entered the mono loop from side A, then the return trip must have the end of the braid loop go through from side A as well? Eg......the mono loop has two sides....side A and side B. So initially, we pass the braid loop through the mono loop from side A to side B. And after we've done the wraps, are you saying that we need to pass the end of the braid loop through the mono loop from side A to side B once again......right?

And then after that, if you then decide to pull the mono line through the braid loop, a problem can occur maybe......the wraps can get tangled up. I think that there must be a step where at least the wraps can be tightened a bit, or else things are going to catch and it's going to be messy. But also, at the moment, I'm not sure about the last part of the procedure you described, where you pass the mono trace through the braid loop......I tried this, but the braid loop doesn't close or tighten up very well......it gets jammed up when you try pull things tight.

Can you post up pics of the steps?

It sounds like you are doing everything correctly. Try to keep everything snugged up firm as you go and tighten the tag ends and the main lines evenly and with moisture.,
I`ll see if I can put up a drawing with each step.

Sorry mate, but my drawings look more confusing than my explanation of the proceedure., but if you go to the end of the proceedure where
I said to pass the end of the mono through the loop of the braid, I should have said both ends of the mono, and pull the whole knot through, just like you are finishing a palomar knot.
    Hope this is usefull.

Reggy - you really need to get someone to draw this and post it here.
