Daiwa Sol Vs. Caldia Kix Vs. Shimano Twin Power??
Hey i am looking to purchase a new reel for mid-heavy plastic fishing, i made a post the other day and mentioned that i was going to get a certate but i've decided to go for something cheaper as i have to buy some other outfits as well.
I am going to be putting 12lb braid on the reel.
The Caldia and Sol are about $279 and the Twin Power about $299.
I like the sol as you get a free spool and it has a extra bearing over the caldia kix and overall i just think daiwa are superior in the smaller reels of todays market.
What do you think i should be choosing ? And what reel would be better size to fit closest to 300m of 12lb braid on ?

i,d choice daiwa sol #... #i have one 2500 #with 16lb for light sp and i have kix 4000 #with 30lb for heavy sp .... as sol not have size 4000 that is why i took the kix ... # as you wanted 12lb then go for the sol 2500 will be petty .... and light ....
spare spool is a good idea cos i did once lost all the line by a jewfish lucky me i had a spare spool all armed it,s easy just swap spool and fish again ....

16lb is pretty heavy for light sp, what sort of fish do you target with these 2 combos ?

Hi mjc85
I have a Sol 2500 for sell (only if you are interested), reason for selling, because I am upgrading to Certate!
Please check: http://www.breammaster.com/forum/sho...threadid=13996
Sol is very good reel for its price, it has very strong drag (7kg drag power). I havent try twin power before but I have 3 Stellas, I do think Daiwa has superior drag system but Shimano is a bit smoother. IMO, for smaller reel go for Daiwa to get that stopping power!
By the way, I apologise for jump into the conversation!

Go the twinpower! #
If you later decide to fish really light, then the Sol won't be able to dish out those long, easy casts. #With the baitcaster, the casting of the SP has to pull braid off the drum, so you will lose a bit of energy turning the drum. #With the twinpower, with the bale open, the line simply peels off the spool.
I have the twinpower and its not too shabby. #I bought it to replace my (drowned, R.I.P.) Daiwas Advantage - I wish I had the Advantage back.
If you really want a compact baitcaster, take a look at the Daiwa HRF it is just beautiful and I prefer it over my Shimani Chronarch.

Sorry Matt and thanks for that: I didn't know that they had both reels branded as a Sol.

mjc85,
You wont get 300 of 12 on mate. Got a 2500 and fits bout 260 of 10 Fins.
You might need to go to a 3000 to get that amount on.
Cheers

Re: Daiwa Sol Vs. Caldia Kix Vs. Shimano Twin Powe
hi mjc 85 ... well i forget to add this as i have spare spool armed 10lb ... so i have two different set of line for my sol ... so the 10lb is for snapper and jack,s
the 16lb is for big jack,s and some time jewfish but they are a bit to strong that is why i have a back up combo is the 4000kix with 30lb for big jew ... i hope that help,s so if you want light sp then go under 10lb will do the job but i think most ppl use 8lb ... who know,s
