Does Braid degenerate ?
Hi all,
Has anyone got any info on how long braid lasts ? #
I have 2 x overheads loaded with 30lb Braid.
These units have been stored for the past 3 years and not used.
Cheers,

Re: Does Braid degenerate ?
Apparently, the material in braid is very stable, so it probably doesn't degenerate when stored normally.

G'day
Maybe you could just put some on a set of scales, pull it 'till it breaks and you'll know if it's at 20% of 100%

It'll be fine!
I've got braid on several reels for about 4 years now & still going strong! And they get used too

Re: Does Braid degenerate ?
Hey guys
Whilst we are on the topic of braid I also have a question, i have 15lb sufix matrix pro and it is a frequent problem that i will cast out and be faced with the nightmare of a massive birds nest within the braid. i have a 1500 powespin penn reel which is great, but i just dont know what the problem is, if anybody could share any info that would help i would be very greatful, thanks a heap

Re: Does Braid degenerate ?
Sounds like the braid is too loose on the reel??

Re: Does Braid degenerate ?
This would likely mean that the line is still running off the spool when the cast is finished. So are you using your thumb to slow the line at the end of the cast? Anyhow, braid plus thumb on braid ..... eeeek.

Re: Does Braid degenerate ?
If your leader knot is back on the spool it can pick up loose loops of braid

Re: Does Braid degenerate ?
thanks guys, i guess there's numerous outcomes, is having the braid to tight on the spool a problem because if it is.. my braid is really quite tight, it looks like the different strands go under and over each other, anyways thanks for all your responses cheers
