    Stradic reels??

I recently brought a Shimano Stradic 2500 reel & i've had problems with the bail-arm shutting when i was casting, if you tried to cast even slightly harder then soft flick it was just shutting. I changed the line once down from 6lb to 4lb fireline mainly cause i had trouble seeing the line & i thought it could of been a problem?? Which i doubt it was..

I've taken it back to the shop where i got it from but i'm just wondering if anyone on these forums have had any problems with Stradic reels before?

the bail arm on my 1000 also closes easily when casting in the way you described but not bad enough to warrent replacing anything. I found that flick casting tends to close it when the bail arm is in the wrong possition.

I thought i had it in the wrong position but i started checking everytime i casted & made sure the bail-arm was open properly still it happened & it just got worse after the respool..

    Re: Stradic reels??

I have a 2500 and 4000 stradic and haven't had the problems you are describing. I often shoot hard long casts with my 2500 and have never had an issue!! I think Jeremy might be talking about the bail arm being at the top of the reel, casuing the maxum force on the bail arm when casting??

The only problem i have had with mine is the bearing inside the bailarm ceased up (after 1.5 years of excessive use!!!!) using it for bait sometimes I managed to get a small whitebait scale inside there and it caused it to rust many times soaking in metho and CRC seamed to clean it up and it isn't ceased anymore but makes a very loud sound when retreving. I ended up reversing how it sits and it now dosn't turn anymore, I can't see any real problems with it being like this as it still operates very well

    Cheers

    Re: Stradic reels??

I have a 2500 and 4000 stradic also and no problems here, for the money we pay for them take it back mate and ask for it to be fixed or replaced.
