    rod for stradic 4000

    Hi,

Can anyone recomend a rod to match to a stradic 4000 for mainly heavy soft plastic fishing. My price range is about $100-$150. Any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

    How about a Shimano Snapper Raider 7' 6" 2 pce 5-8kg.

I've got one of these myself, and will be putting a Stradic on at some point for heavy plastics. (currently running a 3500 Baitrunner).

Shop around - you should get one for $99, maybe a little more if not on special.

    Good luck,
    Mike

Thanks for the advice Mike. I had a look at the the snapper raider and its exactly what im after. One question though, which may sound stupid but what is the gap in the cork on the handle for? Is it just so you can get a better grip when casting or does it serve another purpose?

    thanks

I have one matched with a stradic 4000 with 20lb fins braid and its a great combo!! the gap is a bid odd and the extra length in the rod butt takes a bit to get use too but you can use it to put a LOT of extra hurt onto a fish during a fight I actually nearly cut it off just below the first cork when i first got mine!! Lol.. now I am happy with it except when my coat gets caught on the end of it

    cheers

    Fully agree with 2iar
will be buying that combo soon ,allready have the shimano 7ft 2 raider with shimano 2500 sedona for light plastics what a combo the 7ft 2 is a one piece still a great rod landed a nice 56cm flathead on saturday morning on plakkies with it . picked it up at bcf rod about $139.00 and reel $76.00 all their raiders were the same price definently worth the money

Yeah, I don't know what the gap is for? I don't suppose it's significantly lighter or better balanced because of it, but it doesn't impede the performance in any way I can think of...

Good luck, and like I said somewhere like Sundown might have a better price than BCF (I picked mine up for $99).

    Re: rod for stradic 4000

The gap is sometimes refered to as a fighting butt. As previously suggested its purpose is to reduce the overall weight of the rod by removing unnecessary cork from the hind grip. It is not a new concept but is becoming increasingly popular in heavier soft plastic outfits.
