Thread: can't help myself

    can't help myself

Went into A store today to check out their stocktake sale with no intention of buying anything more than a few hooks, never did get any hooks but I simply couldn't pass up the opportunity to get a new steve starling, ian miller designed 7ft spinning rod which will be perfect for flicking SPs at the bargain price of $57.50 (50% off). Now all I need to do is explain to the missus why I need another rod which is going to the hard part..

    Cheers

    Mike

I know the feeling... Went in Gold Coast tackle the other day with the intention of checking out what small reels they had. No intention of buying...

Walked out with a Daiwa reel, a new Dropshot rod (Too good a price to not!), 2 packets of plastics & an Ecogear SX40

    I hate tackle shops!

    Re: can't help myself

On my first wedding anniversary I went to the shopping centre to buy my wife a card, flowers etc.
Happened upon a sale and walked out with a new surf rod combo

.... and you guessed it, forgot the other stuff

Wifey got home that night from work with a lovely picnic basket and a bottle of wine to go have on the beach etc etc
Presented me with a card with some lovely words (which come very hard for her). [smiley=end.gif]

You know she still hasn't forgotten it?

A bit of advice for Snakecatcher and Owen from an old pro: write this down fellas so you don't forget it-

Snakecatcher, tell your wife you were following this car and suddenly its boot flew open and this rod fell out. You picked up the rod, got the car's rego number and went to the police station to report it and hand back the rod to its rightful owner.

Turned out it was a stolen number plate, but the police thanked you for your honesty and advised you to keep the rod.

Owen, Father's Day is coming up early September. Just remind your wife of the wonderful effort she put in for your first wedding anniversary and perhaps she might like to get you something very nice for Father's Day?

I just bought some new gear also...just told the wife that I had bought some...she just shrugged and said okay...you guys need to accumulate some brownie points for those times.

    Re: can't help myself

mmm..no good saying I've had that for ages, my wife uses that one all the time and its a well known universal excuse for the female species.......
Along with mum bought it for me, my best friend bought it and it was to big/small/tight/wrong colour......

    Re: can't help myself

One way to get an understanding missus is to take her fishing often enough for her to get right into it. Worked on me, I spend heaps on tackle now too.
Yeah, some women actually know a thing or two about fishing. Who knew?

    Re: can't help myself

    Go on the offensive-

    "What about all your
    • Makeup
    • Hair colour
    • Clothing
    • Footwear
    • perfume
    • etc, etc

    I don't spend money on that! "

    What am I thinking !!!

My wife is sitting beside me as I type this.
(Thank God she is occupied on her computer, and hasn't looked at the cr@p that I'm typing)

Or you could always go the option that makes her feel good by thanking her for being so supportive [smiley=kiss.gif], and that you really appreciate it

My missus likes to be in the role of benevolent, gracious, master of her domain!!!
