1975 try getting the berkley dvd and sp set. It is about $30 and is very good. I got the same advice a short time ago when I asked the same question. It is a great way to get started and is very informative.

    Hope this helps a little.

Ok they range in price from cheap as chips to almost as expensive as hard lures.

Most interesting thing about SP's is that the hook comes out of the back of the "fish" as apposed to most hard body lures having the hook/s underneath.

It can be a little tricky threading the hooks until you get used to it, you need to judge where the hook comes out so the plastic sits straight on the hook with no kinks or bends. But you have the option of buying fully rigged SP's, I got a packet of Kokoda fully rigged SP's from Big W for $5 yesterday, so that might be an option for you to see how they are presented etc.

Note- if you buy the coloured jigs, spend 5 minutes clearing the hook eyes of the plastic before putting them in your tackle box, if the fish come on, and you have to spend a minute trying to get the hook eye clear (usually with an old hook) while everyone else is catching fish, it is an eternity!

You can "jig" with them if you like, (basically bouncing them up and down above the bottom) but if your a bit lost, just use them exactly like a hard body lure, but with a slower retrievel. From there just experiment and see how you go.
