G'day
What kind of fishing would you be doing first of all? The other thread... Quality monofilament may help you with choice aswell.

Not sure what mono to go for on my new tyrnos 20.Will be using it for as many fish it can handle. Was thinking of 30lb platapus.Should hold around the 450-500m.Would like some advice thanks.

why would you use mono in this day and age
wake up and get some braid
no use putting cheap old mono on a nice tyrnos

I put Siglon 30lb fine mono on my Tynos 20. It has the diammeter of 20lb line so I got 600+m on it. I have other reels filled with braid anyway. I think mono is still a good choice for all round fishing and especially for trolling.
fartfish ya friggin goose, ever stop to think this guy might be after mono line for trolling purpose? and why the qoute concerning aboriginals? your a ######## grow up!

As far as trolling goes 15kg is a good all round weight! On the tyrnos i use for bottom bashing i have 24kg this isn't for strength as much as lack of stretch!! The heavier mono doesn't stretch until a fair load is placed on it so you feel the bites just like braid without the disadvantages of braid, The only time this doesn't work is when the currents running and you have to add so much more lead to get it down, this is when i use braid or when the water is deep eg 100m+.
The mono i use is Momoi
Alcohol doesn't agree with me, but i sure do enjoy the argument!!!
I 've got 8kg Stren(orange) on my Trynos 20. It took about 800m. Use 15 kg Platypus Pink on my tld 25. Fairly low stretch. Use braid for bottom bouncing but find mono better when trolling. Hope this helps.
